Yoga is the acclaimed exercise of ancient Indian sages for their body and mind both. While outwardly it is a strange set of physical exercises with outrageous twists and turns of the body and limbs, it is equally a series of sophisticated technique for the calmness of the mind. It enables the practitioner not only to keep physically fit with very little effort but also mentally alert.
The efficacy and relevance of yoga is now gaining in acceptability and esteem even among physicians and psychotherapists. Serious research is now underway into the efficacy of yoga as a holistic therapy. The latest ultra sensitive inventions like psychic sensors and kirlian cameras are coming to the aid of this effort. There is also a growing popular enthusiasm for yoga. It is established as a cure-all for the ills of modern civilization built around technological progress and consumerism.
So all in all, the benefits of yoga are many. You get to lose weight, tone up your whole body and also become more in tune to your body. If you’ve never tried yoga before, then you really do owe it to yourself to at least give it a go. You may be surprised at just how quickly you can start to see the benefits.
